this year I will get the answer to life, the universe and everything

...because today I turn forty-two. And I realized today that there's an interesting connection between the Baha'i Calendar, The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy, and people who are forty-two years old.
The Baha'i Calendar is not only the calendar of my religion, it is also one I find myself fascinated by. It is also the calendar I now reference in the heading of every blog post I make.
I pointed out in a previous post a phenomenon I discovered about how people "re-encounter" their birth year in the Baha'i Calendar. Right now it's the year 166 in the Baha'i Calendar so people born in 1966 on the Gregorian Calendar can say that it's the summer of '66 all over again. I was born in 1967, so next March, it will be '67 for me all over again. And I will still be forty-two when that first happens. Anyone born after the spring equinox on the Gregorian Calendar will "re-encounter" their birth year in this way while they are forty-two.
As it turns out, forty-two also happens to be the answer to Life, the Universe, and Everything--at least according to The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy. So it seems that I've established a link between the Baha'i Calendar and The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy through the number 42.
My guess, though, is that this connection between the Bah'ai Calendar, The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy, and forty-two year old people ultimately has little spiritual significance. Certainly no more significance than Six Degrees of Kevin Bacon.
