Do not adjust your monitor screens. You are not hallucinating or having flashbacks. Yes, I decided to revive the Different Drummer moniker.

For those of you who have been following this blog for less than a year, this blog started in December 2005 as The Different Drummer Soundtrack. A year ago, I decided to change the name and design of the blog. I had gone through a lot of changes spiritually and otherwise, and I thought that a new name would reflect that and help steer the blog in a different direction. My hope in renaming it A Colorburst Prayer was that the blog would become more focused.

To some extent I succeeded in doing that. But I never really felt a connection with the Colorburst Prayer name. It took me about three months to come up with the name, and though I thought I was satisfied with it, I really wasn't. When I'd tell people about the blog, it didn't feel like the name was resonating within me. It didn't feel like me. It didn't feel like the name would stick with people, either. Plus, I was never quite satisfied with the design, and I often found that I had little to write about.

Then, a few days ago, on the first day of the Baha'i month of Kalimat, I suddenly felt this impulse to bring back The Different Drummer. That this would happen on the first day of Kalimat seems appropriate, since the English translation for Kalimat is “Words.” I began to get more ideas for the blog, and also for reviving the Madison.com blog which I'd let lapse.

I'm keeping the “prayer” in the name. I still feel like this blog is, in essence a prayer. What's different is that I plan to include more information about day-to-day co-op life and simple living in this blog. It fits because I feel that God has been guiding me to live this way, at least in this stage of my life.

I finally realized that the Different Drummer moniker fits me more than I realized. I never let go of thedifferentdrummer.net URL, even though the .com and .org versions of the domain name were taken. I've never been satisfied with the pat answers given to us regarding life's questions. That's why I live in a co-op house and am a Baha'i.

The URL has been switched back to www.thedifferentdrummer.net, though you will be able to access this blog via www.colorburstprayer.net until I let that domain name expire. Thanks to all the readers who have followed and commented on this blog!
